Maybelline was dressed as Zacchaeus. Not much is said about him in the Bible but Jene guessed it right away.
Note: the knife has nothing to do with her costume.
When Jesus came to Jericho...Zacchaeus wanted to get a glimpse of him, but being small in stature, he could not see over the crowd. So, running ahead to an advance position, he resourcefully gained a vantage point by climbing a tree. This interest, of course, impressed Jesus, who told Zacchaeus that he would stay with him while in Jericho. (Luke 19:3-10)
Jared and his grandma, Jene performed a scene from the account of Jonah. You can see Jene, as the fish swallowing Jonah (left). Their performance was delightfully humorous.
You can read the account in the Bible book of Jonah.
We had two Nebuchadnezzars. Rachel was Nebuchadnezzar humbled by the hand of God, dwelling "with the beasts of the field" at Daniel 4:30-35. Aaron was the proud, conquering Nebuchadnezzar. Yes, that is my skirt and my scarf.
Phyllis was a "certain woman" from the account at 2 Kings 4. If there was a prize for stumping us all, she would have received it.
For the finale, Micah was rolled out on a cart as baby Moses on the Nile river. The account can be read at Exodus 2:1-10.
Micah in a Mr. Bean mask with Joe. Some say that Joe looks like Mr. Bean. I think he kind of does! (left) Miss Ella, precious little princess! (right) The evening was very entertaining!
Aaron wears your skirt and scarf very well!:D Love the baby moses, that was a great job, very funny and very creative. Who were you Christy???
ReplyDeleteJoe does look like Mr. Bean.:) What a fun night.
I was the prophetess, Deborah. When Maybelline called she said, "Throw on a flowing dress and a scarf over your head. You can be anyone you want to be." So I did! -Christy
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough call between conquering Nebuchadnezzar and baby Moses! :-) Tell Maybelline I say hi and I'm jealous she still gets to go to Pika's!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea for family worship night! I am going to steal it and use it in our house with our roommates. There are 18 of living there so it should be fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was May's idea. It was fun!
