Salem Day Five

We went to lunch with dear friends from our congregation in Salem.  At first the guest list was all ladies.  So, needing backup, Aaron invited Dick.  We knew he could handle being outnumbered by the ladies.

Left to right: Thelma, Jane, Marcia, Lyndzie, me, Aaron, Deb, Dick, Ruth

We sat at three adjacent tables.  Aaron answered questions at one table and I at another.  According to Aaron, Dick and Deb knew more about our blog and what was going on than he did.

I sat with Mary (above between Aaron and I), Marcia and Jane.  Jane (below left with Marcia) too is a regular reader of our blog.  We love sharing our experiences with you all!

Cindy, Ruth and Lyndzie sat at a third table.  They were sick of hearing the same stories already, I'm sure!

Lyndzie spent the day with us.  We didn't do a whole lot.  Watched a movie, ran errands and just lazed about.  Aaron also took Lyndzie for a drive in the Boxster.  It was a beautiful sunny day!

Later that night, Cindy made an outstanding dinner—steak, spinach artichoke casserole, rolls and my favorite dessert.  Robin joined us, as did my good friend, Jim.

Robin and Ed used to work together.  Robin started to study the Bible, with Ed's help, and attend meetings at the Kingdom Hall regularly.  We've known him for several years.  He was baptized recently as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jim is a real estate broker.  I started working as his assistant my sophomore year of high school and continued through graduation.  We've stayed in touch over the years.  He's always there for life's milestones—graduation day, our wedding, our first child (wait! we didn't have one of those), my portfolio show for graphic design school… and now our first trip back from Guam.

Jim (left of Cindy) lives in Florence.  He had to leave early since it is over a two hours drive from Salem.  As dinner concluded, out came the Pegs and Jokers game.  That is, until a few friends came over after their meeting for a final goodbye—Dave and Crystal & Jim and Lynda.  Yvonne and Erika came over shortly after to take our Lyndzie away.

Yet, another good day!  Good friends, good food and good fun!

On a sad note, our friend and brother, Dick fell asleep in death November 17.  He will be missed.  We are so happy to have spent a little time with him.  To all the friends back home, we're so sorry for your loss.
