Williams Day Four

We went to Sunday meeting in the town of Rogue River where Jolene, my middle sister, and her husband, Will live with their four children. At the meeting we met Jake Felby's brother and his family.  Jake and Amy are out here in Micronesia on the construction team, helping to build and renovate Kingdom Halls, missionary homes and translation offices.  We didn't know them until we came to Guam.  Small world!

Left to right: Tyce, Will, Jolene, Zoey, Me, Aaron, Shannon and Fallon
After meeting, Mom came over and picked up Maggie and Josie while the rest of us went on a lovely hike down the Rogue River to Rainy Falls.  My cousin Shannon, who lives on the coast in Florence, joined us with her daughter, Fallon.

The hike was four miles, two in and two out.  The weather was warm, the river was running high and the terrain was rugged.  The trail itself was well-marked and fairly easy to traverse.  In places there was a sheer drop-off and no railings.  Several times I thought, "Wow, one false step and..."

The salmon were really jumping so we sat and watched them for about an hour—visiting and enjoying the natural spectacle.

I had never seen salmon jump up-river in person, only on TV.  It was pretty entertaining!

On the way out, we took one last look!  We also spotted an osprey along the trail.

Shannon treated us all to dinner at Galice Resort after our hike.  We enjoyed a leisurely meal, live music and the warm fall evening.  Another great day!
