My First Trip to Asan Cut

Under the Sea

Aaron and I decided to dive Asan Cut on a Sunday. We pulled into the park and by coincidence, there were Aaron's co-worker, Tim and Alexis (above). They dive every weekend so the odds were pretty good that we'd see them there. Of course…timing is everything!

It was a pretty cool dive. You walk out thru the shallows over rock and then the edge drops off to about 20 feet. There is a series of chambers that cut thru the cliff before you reach open water. Then you swim along cliffs and coral.

We saw lots of fish. Aaron has a fish identification book now.  We managed to identify quite a few fish that we saw, with the help of photos—some good some not-so-good. Here are some of the good ones!
Porcupinefish (top left) | Octopus (top right) See him? | Common Lionfish (bottom left)
Cushion Star (bottom right)
Didn't know what I was looking at in this photo until Aaron pointed it out.

Friends arrive Friday evening from Salem, Oregon.
We plan to do more diving over the next week. Stay tuned!

  1. Nice pictures, can't really say for sure if I can see the Octopus, see an eye on a rock, I think? The cushion star is interesting looking.
Have fun with the wonderful Smith Family, very nice family.:)
