Here are a few photos she recently sent me.

Chelsea just looks sweet. She's a pretty tough cookie!

In Chelsea's own words: We're doing great, LOVE it here. We go out in service for the first time today. The meeting was awesome! There's only like 11 publishers here and all the little kids were staring at us through the entire meeting. Dave commented in Chuukese and did great. Everyone giggled. The people are so friendly.

Far right is Khadafey, a newly baptized brother in the Moen Congregation. Becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses is not an easy feat in Chuuk. Many bible students face harsh family opposition—ridicule and often physical abuse. When he started studying the bible, Khadafey realized he needed to make some changes in his life in order to draw close to God. He overcame many bad habits including smoking, huffing propane, chewing betel nut and misusing alcohol. At first he studied once a week. Then he asked to study twice a week. When that was not enough. He asked to study three times a week. Eventually he was studying the Bible seven days a week and spending much of his free time at the Kingdom Hall—just because he had no better place to be. He is now happily serving Jehovah…and apparently still hanging out at the Kingdom Hall! Chelsea says he's a big help!

Another day: Electricity was out almost all day, good thing we have a generator, but you can't run the aircons and the dryer at the same time. It is definitely hard work, Dave came in and changed at lunch, I thought they were using the hose or something because he was completely drenched head to toe, it was sweat. Ugh. …the heat isn't bad, it's the humidity. It's killer! I think the longer we're here the more we'll get used to it.

Nice blog. That must be such a privilege to get to work on the projects. Must be fun too....they seem to like to ham it up.
ReplyDeleteWow--those are major life changes...and studying 3x a week to boot. Must love what he's learning. Sounds like your friends are having a blast and we appreciate you (all) sharing the pics.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for providing a wonderful place for the humble people of Chuuk to learn the truth, their very own Kingdom Hall. We live in Phoenix, Arizona. We met a woman going door to door who speaks Chuukese. She had to leave due to a wave that washed over her island and ruined the land in Weno. Grace is on Kinikin 25 of the Enjoy Life Forever book! We hope to show her your pictures at her study tomorrow morning. A sister in Oregon speaks Chuukese but she is blind. So she can't conduct. We conduct and she translates answers. It is amazing to use zoom and help Grace. It is fabulous to have videos and literature in Chuukese. Getting the Bible last year was a great help for Grace since her Bible is a paraphrase. Sending BIG hugs to the translators and to YOU for building the Hall and place for the translators. Your friends in Phoenix
