A New Fruit

Taste of Guam

No, not Aaron! The fruit is called chico or sapodilla. It is a long-lived, evergreen fruit tree native to Southern Mexico and Central America. It is grown in huge quantities in India, Mexico and was introduced to the Philippines during Spanish colonization. As a result, it has found its way to Guam. A Filipino friend from the congregation gave us a few. He mother has a tree in her yard. Aaron says it tastes like brown sugar. It is too sweet for my palate.
