Joe and Phyllis celebrated their 50th in Hawaii with their kids in September. We simply could not allow this momentous occasion to pass without notice here on Guam. Julie Burnett and I set to work on planning a surprise party.
We met with the Event Planner at the Westin, sent out invitations, followed up on RSVPs and then waited for the day to arrive. In the meantime we—the Flowers, the Burnetts and Aaron and I—all took turns going off-island with the promise that we would all get together when we returned. Even with all the traveling the party came together. They were genuinely surprised and everyone had a good time. We played the
Not-So-Newlywed Game, listened to the friends say nice things about the Flowers (even about Joe) and enjoyed music played by some very talented young musicians from the South Congregation.
Much thanks to all who contributed to the evening!
It looks like a fun party, 50 years. Wow! I've got a few to go........
