Return to Ritidian

Beaches & Hikes

Sunday afternoon, Aaron and I returned to Ritidian Beach. After driving further down the road into the jungle, we discovered campsites. Though the US Air Force does not allow overnight camping anymore, the sites are convenient for private parking and access to the beach. PLUS you get to drive/walk through a bit of the jungle.

It was a stormy day. Aaron and I dashed home after meeting, hoping to enjoy a little sunshine before the rain hit. The drive out to Ritidian takes about 20 minutes and as we drove the sky got darker and darker.

We arrived at the beach, found a spot, set out our towels and enjoyed cold, homemade pizza and a beer before the rain began to fall. We packed up and sat in the car for a while until the rain slowed. Then we walked south along the beach. Because of the rain, we left the camera in the car but we discovered a whole new beautiful section of the beach that we want to explore on another day.

  1. Bummer about the rain, but looks like you made the most of it. Looked nice and relaxing.
