April Came Blowing In

April 2026

April started on a peaceful, reflective note as we commemorated the Memorial of Jesus’ death.
Jacob gave the talk for his congregation.

The storm didn’t hit us directly but it crawled by at 4 mph on parts of the 14th, 15th and 16th. It took about 48 hours to pass by.
Passing the time with a little Yahtzee and bean dip

Once the storm passed we could run a generator for the refrigerator and charge our devices.

Creative meals during no-power days—crab cakes (sort of)
Eliza’s parents were on-island, and our planned boat trip was canceled because of the storm. Once the weather cleared and it was safe to head out, we made our way to the beach instead.
It felt good to get out of the house and be with friends.

Jolene and Will took their girls, Maggie and Josie, to New York, where they unexpectedly crossed paths with friends from Guam. Haruko (left with her husband) is a friend we first met in Pohnpei in 2013, and Stefany (wearing green) and her husband moved to Guam sometime after we did.
They also ran into Brian who is part of the reason we were prompted to move to Guam.
