Guam was under tsunami warning last night. Nothing really came of it.
I was in Hagatna, at sea level, waiting for Aaron to get off work when I heard the news that we were under tsunami watch (from Cindy Gates who is in Oregon, go figure!). As we drove towards home the watch was upgraded to a warning and the waves were supposed to hit around 7:10 p.m. On Friday, at rush hour, traffic is bad enough! With the evacuation of low lying areas it was even worse!
We got home a little later than normal but with plenty of time to make calls to those in our congregation. The phone lines were all tied up so we started dialing thru Skype. The number that showed up on everyone's phone was our Oregon number so the friends were all confused. But Skype was the only way to get thru.
All are safe and all is well...on Guam! We are eager to hear how our brothers, friends and family are fairing in Japan and everywhere the tsunami hit!
Glad to hear you are all well in Guam. All in the islands of Pohnpei and Pohnpei State are safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteFamily on Kauai are all ok too.
ReplyDeleteSouthern Oregon had some damage, one life lost.
I thought we'd have high water in Portland from the Columbia and Willamette, but that didn't happen.
SO GLAD you are all OK!
I did forget to say the Mt Hood had an avalanche yesterday - don't know if it is totally related, but all part of the Ring of Fire..
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your part of it (and apparently other islands) fared well. So glad Cindy is on top of things...she never ceases to amaze. :0)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from Corpus Christi TX. Glad to hear you are safe. I think you are now indebted to Cindy for life and must now be her personal servant. Was there any damage on any of the nearby islands
