Sharwin spent an afternoon introducing us to several beaches north of Cairns. We started at Holloways Beach. Above is a billabong adjacent to the ocean (below). Crocodiles are known to troll up and down the beach. In fact, we saw the tracks of one such creature, from the billabong to the open waters of the ocean.
We enjoyed lunch at Strait on the Beach,
a very cute cafe with unique furniture and dining right at the beach's edge.
The water is usually more blue.
While we were there the swells were very high,
it had been raining a lot and the water was churned up.
On our way to Trinity Beach, we stopped to see some wallabies in a paddy.

For those who care, there is a Clifton Beach in South Africa AND in Australia.
Why do we care? Clifton is my maiden name. Did we go there? No.
Palm Cove is just what the name says—a cove of sandy beach lined with coconut palms. The Esplanade in Palm Cove is lined with resorts and beachfront accommodations, shops and restaurants. Very posh!
These are the Paperbark Trees. The bark peels off like papyrus.
This is our cheeky friend Sharwin.
Ellis Beach, where the rainforest meets the reef
Lake Placid, last stop of the day
See any crocodiles? Neither did we!
That was cute to get your picture in front of Clifton Beach. Very appropriate.
ReplyDeleteA very lovely cafe and I loved Palm Cove. Some beautiful beaches you saw, nice to sit and relax, as long as no crocodile came along. Beautiful pictures. I know I keep saying that, but it is true. Rick and I are broken records.:)
Ok then Cindy....I am not going to mention how beautiful the pictures are, especially Palm cove and the very lovely cafe. Or how appropriate it was to have your picture in front of Clifton Beach sign...or that no crocodiles came along....I dont want to repeat all your comments.
ReplyDeleteSo, instead I'll say that I like the pics of the wallabies!
I've noticed Clifton Beaches other places too! Funny.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are having so much fun!!
Can it get anymore beautiful.
Great, now any comments about the wallabies would be redundant...you snooze, you lose. Sigh, the hammock looked comfy. You Cliftons are certainly globetrotters...and must have some sort of clout with beach namers.
